Hello THB!

I'm an old fart by gaming standards...hell, by most standards..but I can still hang with the young pups..and occasionally school them..

Recently retired from the military and figuring out WTH I am going to do.
Living in Canada now, but I'm American.... East coast born, but consider Alaska my home.
I know Spider and Fram from the RVS, BF2, and Modern Warfare days.

Been out of gaming for a bit, just starting to get back into it. I do have BF3 still.. My son has been telling me I should get BF4 and BF1...
We'll see.
Hope to see ya all around. I'll have to jump on TS sometime soon.

What are you guys' thoughts on this rig?

It says it's a laptop but can be worn as a backpack. I want to upgrade and I'm excited to try VR but am I, for lack of a better word, physically compatible with this gear? 93% of the time I would be sitting down, playing, with the hardware strapped to my wheelchair, 5% standing up and constantly shifting my weight while on my walker, and ~2% actually playing while feet-planted-on-the-floor standing up. Don't get me wrong, with my current setup I get a great workout. Body gets all tensed up. I love doing it. But at $2300 it's a risky investment for something I have no way of knowing if I'll get my money's worth. And playing a game on my current setup while concentrating on PT is already one fucking bastard of a multitasking challenge even without VR.

Link here.

Here are the system specs I ripped from a PCGamer preview article.

There are two SKUs. The first (6RD-007US) goes for $2,000 and includes the following the hardware and features:

Intel Core i7-6820HK
16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU w/ 6GB GDDR5
256GB PCIe SSD
Windows 10 Pro
The burlier configuration (6RE-006US) costs $2,300 and bumps the GPU up to a GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 memory while doubling storage to a 512GB SSD.

Both setups sport four USB 3.0 ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port, mini DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0 ports (one each), separate headphone and microphone jacks, Killer 1535 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, and a pair of 8-cell batteries (90 Whr) that MSI says are capable of providing 1.5 hours of "full speed" gameplay. . . . "When removing both batteries and using it as a stand alone PC system, MSI VR One is even lighter and more compact than some high performance gaming notebooks," MSI says. "Moreover, it easily substitutes traditional desktops. One of the stunning abilities this super gear possesses is running a surround mode on three external 4K@60Hz monitors."

You can read the rest here: http://www.pcgamer.com/msi-vr-one-backpa...g-at-2000/

Editing to clarify the HTC Vive VR headset and paddles aren't included with the MSI VR ONE 6RE-006US. Total cost for both likely exceeds $3,000.

I thought this was kinda neat. Remember back in 2009 when Penny Arcade (Google "gaming webcomics" and you'll see PA in everyone's Top 10) released a short story in comic format called Lookouts? Well these guys filmed a live-action, 12 min video based on Lookouts and posted it online:
